Welcome to the official website of the PORGMUN, a Model United Nations experience in the Mother of Cities – Prague, Czech Republic. PORGMUN is a four day high-school level MUN conference brought to you by a dedicated group of students from gymnázium PORG Libeň. We will be happy to have you join us in May 8-11, 2014 for intense debating and consensus-building in one of our six committees!
For four unforgetable days, you will not only become a part of the international community but also have the opportunity to visit the historic marvels of Prague and attend various social events!
What is PORGMUN?
PORGMUN is a four-day conference simulating the real United Nations, its structure and modus operandi. The conference will be hosting six committees, including the Security Council, each with its own topics and themes. As a delegate, you will represent your country’s views and opinions in the debates.
Once the registration is opened, you will be able to pick a country you would like to represent and the committee to represent it in. PORGMUN will also be accompanied by various social and cultural events and feature interesting and well-known guest speakers.
Where will the PORGMUN take place?
PORGMUN is set in the beautiful city of Prague, the political and cultural center of Central Europe and the capital of the Czech Republic. The conference will be held at Gymnázium Nový PORG, located 20 minutes from the center in the calm neighbourhood of Krč.
When is the conference?
Delegates are expected to arrive at Gymnázium Nový PORG on Thursday, 8th of May afternoon. On Thursday we’ll welcome all the delegates, give out prepared materials, get to know each other and introduce delegates to the host families they will be staying with.
The first annual PORGMUN conference will start with the Opening Ceremony on Thursday and end with Closing Ceremony on Sunday.
Who can participate?
Are you interested in politics, diplomacy, or debating? Do you just want to put your hard-earned English skills to test? Or is it just trying something new while meeting unique, inspired, young people that attracts you?
No matter which one it is, if you are between 14 and 20 years old and able to debate in English fluently, you can be one of the 150 delegates of PORGMUN!
How to take part?
The registration will open on the 17th of February. You will be able to choose a country to represent and a committee to take part in. You will also have the option to decide whether you want to stay in a host family or whether you would prefer to stay in a hostel.
