Who are we?

We, the organizers of PORG Model United Nations, are all current and former students of Gymnázium PORG Libeň and Nový PORG. We have been active and passionate members of the international MUN community ever since our high school freshman years. We have already organized four successful conferences – PREPORGMUN 2013, PORGMUN 2014, PORGMUN 2015 and PORGMUN 2016. Our goal in organizing model United Nations conferences is to bring together young, innovative and motivated students from all over the world to spend four unforgettable days debating and reaching a mutual consensus on current pressing topics of a global scale. We do not only aim at educating people about the current world politics, but also about the significance of the United Nations Organization in international diplomacy. We hope to give rise to new friendships that disregard ethnic backgrounds, religions and nationalities and thus encourage a new generation of great leaders and thinkers.

PREPORGMUN

After participating in numerous MUN conferences, we decided to organize one on our own. But seeing how inexperienced we were and how spectacular regular MUNs are, we chose to begin with a much smaller conference. This conference, named PREPORGMUN, gathered 50 students from various Czech high schools. Divided into three committees, including the Security Council, they have spent one day debating and ultimately represented their work at a Closing Ceremony.

This has provided us with the much needed experience and contacts, and helped us form the PORGMUN 2014 team. The feedback was very positive and we have been glad to meet many of the PREPORGMUN delegates at the PORGMUN 2014.

PORGMUN 2014

PORGMUN 2014 took place in May 8-11, with over 150 participants from all over Europe. The conference was met with enormous success and the delegates made wonderful job. Their resolutions have been presented to the General Assembly, aswell as the work of the delegates of the Security Council. On top of that, have had a lot of fun and found new friends! PORGMUN 2015

PORGMUN 2015 took place in March, between 19th and 22nd, and hosted over 230 international delegates, including students from non-European states like Turkey and Lebanon. The PORGMUN team has grown significantly, which allowed the conference to run smoother and on a bigger scale. We’ve seen new friendships being formed as well as great efforts being demonstrated in all of the committees; that is why the PORGMUN team has very high hopes for the upcoming years.

PORGMUN 2016

PORGMUN 2016 took place between April 7th and 10th in 2016, and hosted over 220 delegates from all around the world including participants from 11 different countries including Netherlands, Egypt, Ireland, and the United States. We introduced plenty of innovations such as the new International Court of Justice or the Historical Security Council, broadening the range of topics and making the conference more attractive. Apart from debating vigorously the delegates also had a chance to build new friendships and learn about other cultures. We hope PORGMUN 2017 will meet these high standards and continue to develop them.
